Welcome to my picture site <FONT FACE="Tahoma"><FONT SIZE=5 STYLE="font-size: 20pt"><B>SDBIRDER.COM</B></FONT></FONT> <FONT FACE="Tahoma"><FONT SIZE=2>Thanks for visiting. </FONT></FONT> <FONT FACE="Tahoma"><FONT SIZE=2>Just got a new telephoto lens, a Nikon <A HREF="http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Camera-Lenses/1909/AF-S-NIKKOR-300mm-f/4D-IF-ED.html">AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED</A> and it's already exceeding my expectations. With my 1.7x teleconverter it's transformed into a 500mm f/6.7. Real close to what the pros use (500-600 f/4), but $4000 less! <A HREF="http://www.sdbirder.com/photos/412856974_ccii7-XL.jpg">I took this shot of the Moon</A> and was amazed at the detail. Now I should be able to reach out and touch birds that I would have passed on before.</FONT></FONT> <FONT FACE="Tahoma"><FONT SIZE=2>I got a new camera as a birthday present to myself in March 2008, a <A HREF="http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond300/">Nikon D300, (12.2 MP Digital)</A>. I really love it so far, a MAJOR upgrade from my old D70.</FONT></FONT> <FONT FACE="Tahoma"><FONT SIZE=2>I recently started encoding GPS (Global Positioning System) data into my photos using a free program called <A HREF="http://research.microsoft.com/Research/Downloads/Details/eadb6a33-b1b8-4c4d-b713-64fae728f74f/Details.aspx">WWMX Location Stamper</A>. It's pretty cool because I usually carry a GPS in my pocket anyhow in case I need to mark a rare bird location. Most photo sharing sites now recognize the &quot;<A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geotagging">Geotagged</A>&quot; photos allowing the photos to be instantly viewed on a <A HREF="http://maps.smugmug.com/?feedType=geoUser&amp;Data=trs">Google Earth satellite map</A>.
